This piece by Ann Tang was on view in “In Solidarity: SVA Celebrates Its Asian and Asian American Communities” in spring 2021. Tang explains: “In this piece, people put together a symbol of unity and strength using an Asian traditional utensil: the chopstick. It’s an idea of support for those affected by Asian discrimination, symbolling that we are all a part of one world.” Tang and many of the other student-artists in the exhibition created work to celebrate their Asian origins and culture, vividly illustrating that inclusion and diversity are not just words, but the hallmarks of SVA and the bedrock of American society.
