Design New Zealand

May 19, 10:00 am - May 21, 5:00 pm

In a harmonious collaboration, David Trubridge Lighting, Emma Hayes, James Dunlop Textiles and Mokum will showcase the pinnacle of New Zealand’s design ethos at ICFF, North America’s premier show for contemporary design, from May 19-21, bringing together exquisite textiles, wallcoverings, wall panels, acoustic fixtures and decorative lighting.

With a strong emphasis on biomimicry and nature-inspired design, and a commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainability, the brands will present innovative, original designs that encapsulate the beauty of New Zealand. The collaboration represents a bold step forward in the global design arena, demonstrating how designs rooted in specific cultural and environmental contexts can find universal appeal. It underscores the global relevance of New Zealand’s design principles—sustainability, innovation, and a deep connection to nature—and positions the country as a leader in thoughtful, responsible, and inspiring design practices.

Meet the Exhibitors:

• David Trubridge Lighting: David Trubridge is one of New Zealand’s most internationally recognizable designers, known for his kitset lighting and environmental activism. He is resolute in his mission to create sustainably produced products with a natural and organic aesthetic and believes that the combination of these two principles directly affects the product’s sustainability, maintaining that consumers are less likely to discard products that are beautiful.

• Emma Hayes: Emma Hayes creates artisan wallcoverings from hand painted beginnings, inspired by New Zealand. Available in both residential and commercial grade. Recent projects include Louis Vuitton retail interiors, Nobu Hotel Miami and WME/IMG Offices in NYC.

• James Dunlop Textiles: With over a century of experience, James Dunlop Textiles offers a collection of premium fabrics, wallcoverings, and accessories that speak to a diverse array of lifestyles. Inspired by New Zealand’s landscape and lifestyle, James Dunlop is a brand born of place. Timeless in quality and style, fabrics are developed with a contemporary understanding of the lives spent on and around them.

• Mokum: Mokum’s distinctive, statement making fabrics weave global inspiration with the brand’s unique perspective to create original designs with provenance. Influenced by a relaxed lifestyle and natural environment, Mokum craft beautiful textiles which are simultaneously luxurious and accessible.

Through this collaboration and with the vision from renowned New Zealand architect Lauren Caughley of Caughley & Co in California, the Design New Zealand booth at ICFF is not just a display of products but a representation of a lifestyle that honors the environment and cultural heritage of New Zealand. It’s a commitment to design that is both environmentally conscious and deeply rooted in the beauty of Aotearoa’s landscapes.
