Hosted by luxury Swedish rug company Kasthall, David Weeks Studio – an internationally-renowned design practice – is pleased to introduce SCOPO, an installation at Kasthall’s Flagship showroom on May 18th.
The new sculptural lighting pendant was developed by founder David Weeks’ during his sixth-month fellowship at the American Academy in Rome. Embracing the studio’s reputation for creating genre-defining pieces with statement-making minimalism, SCOPO utilizes a unique combination of hooks to create the fixture’s spine-like curvature, extending 13 feet from the ceiling. Housing 14 individual light sources that project soft spotlights on the surrounding walls, the piece creates a mesmerizing, sensory-stimulating experience for the viewer. Composed of thin brass sheets, the handmade sculptural fixture is embellished with distinctive details, such as a custom plum bob with a built-in level filled with 35-year-old whiskey.
Kasthall, renown for creating unique, contemporary woven, and hand-tufted rugs for over 135 years, will be showing its VICHY collection during NYCxDESIGN. The series is a celebration of squares and stripes – an integral part of Kasthall’s rich design heritage – and embraces the familiarity of the checkered pattern with a modern twist.
Sharing an enduring commitment to timeless aesthetics and a passion for craftsmanship, David Weeks Studio is thrilled to continue its partnership with Kasthall, showcasing a series of fixtures and Kasthall’s Vichy collection at the rug company’s new Soho showroom during NYCxDESIGN and beyond. The collaboration creates a harmonious blend of handmade, high-quality design from floor to ceiling.
