Real Spaces

May 16, 9:00 am - May 23, 6:00 pm

A striking exhibition featuring the artistry of Robin Crookall will be on view at MA.
Crookall’s work lies at the intersection of architecture and photography, fusing both realms to create illusions that blur reality. Her images are constructed architectural models she builds, photographs, and enlarges. The models are constructed from humble materials like cardboard, tape, and hot glue. These household elements, captured through photography, create a familiar quality to the images that immediately soothe the viewer.

Crookall’s approach disorients space, time, and scale by building and photographing models to create a particular kind of illusion. Her work explores the boundaries between what is factual and what is perceived, challenging pre-existing notions of reality. The resulting artistic experience is not only visually appealing but also one that can change perceptions of the everyday.

Crookall’s work is a testament to the beauty of subtlety. The mundane becomes extraordinary not through something drastic, but through slight changes which tease the senses into experiencing something familiar in a new way.

About Exhibitions at MA:
For more than 10 years, MA’s Manhattan office has served as a space for rotating Art Exhibitions, showcasing the work of painters, photographers, sculptors, and other artists whose ideas resonate with the firm’s values. These exhibitions not only enrich the practice but also create a platform for connecting clients, artists, and others to inspire collaboration and build community. As a natural progression of this platform, in 2019, MA established an in-house Art Services department to develop and deliver art programs that respond directly to the firm’s architecture and interior designs and a project’s specific context and ambition.
