The Festival encompasses renowned trade shows including WantedDesign and ICFF, as well as immersive public design experiences like Design Pavilion, and hundreds of additional design events across the five boroughs of New York City. Emerging Designer Residency

In 2021, NYCxDESIGN and ARTS THREAD teamed up to present a 3-month Emerging Designer Residency Program at Hudson Yards. Four recent graduates had 13 weeks to work on their impressive portfolios and showcase projects in a highly visible space.

In addition to providing exposure for the emerging designers to launch their businesses, the space offered an opportunity for the public to see a behind-the-scenes look at the design process–from the making of rugs to the fabrication of pendant lights.

Breakout Grant

NYCxDESIGN’s Breakout Grant was conceived to help financially support New York City-based designers and design businesses in implementation or furthering the momentum of a product or project that is in pre-market, late-stage development. The Breakout Grant jury, composed of distinguished leaders throughout New York’s design eco-system, evaluated proposals at length to award viable projects and candidates who demonstrated a foundational commitment to innovation, inclusivity, and sustainability – three integral pillars to designing a greater New York City.

The Design Corps is a network of volunteers assisting restaurants’ design-related needs that have arisen due to the COVID-19 crisis. Restaurants can sign up to receive a free consultation from a design professional who can help answer questions about improving dining area, space layout, and adapting to the guidelines.
