Eittem is an American luxury atelier creating sculptural handbags that blur the line between contemporary art and functional design. Founded by Creative Director Erin Saluti, each piece is carved from salvaged American walnut, handcrafted over several weeks, and designed to endure for the next generation.
The process begins with drawing, each form sketched from multiple perspectives and developed through proportion, balance, and how the object engages the body when carried or held. From there, design moves between hand, sketch, and digital form until the object feels inevitable, with sanding, finishing, and assembly unfolding over weeks rather than hours.
Technology is used not to replace the hand, but to extend what the hand can achieve. During the Open Studio, visitors can explore works from the current collection, witness the craft up close, and meet the makers behind it all.
Saluti, who trained in the history of art and design at the Victoria and Albert Museum and in interior design at the London Design School, brings deeply considered design to everything she creates.
