Calico Wallpaper introduces Luminous, a new collection in collaboration with architect and designer Suchi Reddy, debuting during NYCxDESIGN through open hours at the Calico Wallpaper showroom. Grounded in Reddy’s pioneering work in neuroaesthetics, the collection explores the relationship between light, color, and human perception, framing design as both a sensory and emotional experience.

Rather than treating light as a purely visual element, Luminous approaches it as a dynamic force that shapes mood, perception, and atmosphere. Each design reflects the interplay between environment and individual, suggesting that color is not fixed or universal but experienced differently depending on memory, context, and personal energy. The result is a collection that feels both deeply intimate and broadly resonant. Through layered gradients and atmospheric transitions, the wallpapers capture light in motion—diffusing, shifting, and transforming across space. Colors appear as immersive fields rather than static surfaces, creating a sense of depth and fluidity that mirrors how we process the world around us. The designs invite viewers to slow down and engage with subtle changes in tone and intensity, encouraging a more mindful interaction with their surroundings.

The collection features six distinct colorways — Awaken, Beam, Brilliant, Emanate, Flash, and Lucent — each offering its own emotional register. From soft, rising luminosity to bold, saturated expanses of color, the palettes create varied atmospheres that invite personal interpretation.

Presented at the Calico Wallpaper showroom, Luminous will be experienced alongside an atmospheric program of music and projection. As visitors move through the space, shifting light, sound, and color reveal how subtle environmental changes can transform perception and feeling, reinforcing the collection’s central idea: that light and color are active participants in how we experience space.
