Slash Objects presents “My Astral Mission,” an immersive environment exploring the cosmic intersection of music and materiality. Architect Arielle Assouline-Lichten debuts the X Deck, a site for listening and sonic connection. Through mirror-polished metals and cinematic light, the installation investigates how physical objects anchor profound sensory experiences in space.
Within the historic, high-ceilinged expanse of a SoHo loft, Slash Objects presents “My Astral Mission,” an immersive installation centered on the debut of the X Deck. The exhibition explores the connection between the physical environment and the act of listening, transforming the gallery into a vessel for both light and sound.
At the heart of the installation is the X Series, a collection that operates at the intersection of "Glam Minimalism" and architectural rigor. The X Deck, a dedicated site for DJ equipment and records, functions as a social instrument—a piece of furniture conceived as condensed architecture. By crossing mirror-finished stainless steel with high-polish brass, the work investigates a liquid, monolithic materiality. These reflective surfaces do not merely occupy space; they pull the surrounding environment into their own geometry, creating a tonal vibration that evolves with the viewer’s movement.
“My Astral Mission” frames the object as a mediator for human connection. In an increasingly digital world, the installation asserts the necessity of the tangible. It proposes that the furniture we inhabit can heighten our sensory reality, providing a physical anchor for the ephemeral experience of music. In the cinematic atmosphere of the loft, the X Deck becomes a site of transit, grounding the cosmic and the ethereal into a functional, sculptural form.
The exhibition is an inquiry into how materials meet, balance, and interact to create a new, unified logic. It is a dialogue of reflections—a vision of design that is at once precisely engineered and deeply poetic. Visitors are invited to experience a space where the industrial heritage of New York meets a future-facing sonic landscape, and where the act of listening is elevated through the precision of form.
