NYCxDESIGN Festival hosted an intimate evening at the Saint Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church & National Shrine, featuring a keynote conversation between world-renowned architect Santiago Calatrava and architect Gabriel Calatrava.
Set within one of Lower Manhattan’s most significant contemporary landmarks, the discussion offered a rare opportunity to hear directly from the project’s designer alongside his son and collaborator, reflecting on architecture, legacy, and the making of civic space.
The evening concluded with a complimentary cocktail reception as architecture, dialogue, and place came together in a truly memorable experience.
Optional Add-On Experience
Guests could enhance the evening with an exclusive pre-event architectural walking tour of the Oculus, led by Gabriel Calatrava.
This 30-minute guided experience provided behind-the-scenes insight into the project’s design, engineering, and construction as a globally recognized transportation hub, as well as its relationship to the Saint Nicholas Church. Guests gained a deeper understanding of the ideas and innovations shaping both works before continuing to the keynote conversation nearby.
