My name is Sadiyah, and I’m 18 years old and getting ready to start college this fall.

I participated in the NYC Department of Education Graphic Arts Competition after my school encouraged students to enter. I was originally placed in the video production category, but I decided to join the photography competition instead because I really enjoy taking photos and capturing interesting moments.

If I had to pick a favorite subject, I’d probably say gym—even though some people might not consider it a real subject! I love playing volleyball and had the opportunity to serve as captain of my volleyball team as a setter.

Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my friends, whether that means walking around, trying new food spots, or playing volleyball together. I’m grateful for the chance to participate in this competition and excited to see where my creativity and interests take me in the future.
