Fritz Hansen is pleased to present a special exhibition highlighting the iconic works of Poul Kjærholm during NYCxDESIGN 2025. This exhibition marks the first time a presentation dedicated solely to the world of Poul Kjærholm will be introduced in the Americas.
Taking place from May 15 to May 21 at the Fritz Hansen New York Showroom, the exhibition will showcase Kjærholm’s key designs, placing his life and work within the broader context of Danish design history.
Poul Kjærholm, who worked as a furniture designer from the 1950s to the 1970s, reinterpreted the Danish cabinetmaker tradition using modern materials and techniques. He developed a distinct design language that emphasized structure and form, breaking new ground by introducing steel furniture to a market historically dominated by wood.
Kjærholm’s work is an integral part of contemporary design, with pieces featured in the permanent collections of major institutions including the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in the U.S., the Victoria & Albert Museum in the U.K., the National Art Centre in Japan, and the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art in Denmark.
