World Cup Ode to NYC

In early June, New York City Public Schools held its 25th Anniversary of their Citywide Annual Graphics Design Competition. As part of the Annual Graphics Design Competition, the New York City Economic Development Corporation in partnership with New York City, the NYC World Cup Czar and NYCxDESIGN sponsored World Cup Ode to NYC.

World Cup Ode to NYC was a takeover of NYCxDESIGN’s Ode to NYC poster program where global leaders in design and creative industries use NYC as inspiration to create art highlighting their love and inspiration of the best city in the world, NEW YORK CITY!  The World Cup Ode to NYC was a takeover where students from the Citywide Annual Graphics Design Competition spent four hours creating, designing, and directing original artwork inspired by the excitement, energy, and anticipation of the global spirit of soccer, the World Cup in North America and especially in the New York Metro area. As part of this competition Ilene Shaw, the Executive Director of NYCxDESIGN and Maya Handa, the World Cup Czar reviewed hundreds of artworks, photographs and digital creative content that over 200 students created in the categories of digital illustration, graphic design and photography where they selected the best of the best to be turned into World Cup Ode to NYC Posters.

We are proud to present the four winning designs for World Cup Ode to NYC, recognizing the creativity, talent, and vision of New York City's emerging young designers and welcome you to purchase these commemorative posters to support NYCxDESIGN and emerging designer programs in New York City.
