Common Things, a story-forward shop of everyday objects, is pleased to present ‘Finding the light,’ a showcase of charismatic lighting that seeks to illuminate the joys of daily life through the lens of innovative, surprising and sometimes surrealist design.

Works from Los Angeles-based designer Candy Valentine’s Edition CF, Spanish-born and Brooklyn-based designer and maker Blanca Codina, Ryoko Nakamura and Christopher Flechtner’s Triptych, and New York-based neon artist Juno Shen will be on view in the shop located in Manhattan’s beloved East Village neighborhood through the duration of NYCxDESIGN.

For more information, kindly contact [email protected]. To stay attuned to opening reception details, follow the shop on Instagram.

Common Things opened in 2023 and was founded by architect and designer Komal Kehar of Mira Projects. The shop was ideated and designed in the spirit of cultural curiosity, admiration, and respect with many objects sourced from Kehar’s personal travels around the world. Its namesake and ideology is an earnest homage to Pablo Neruda’s Odes to Common Things, a poem in which the writer declares his affinity for the seemingly mundane objects that tie the minutiae of one’s life together.
